Sensory Fest by Fever

Designing an immersive dining experience where the food became part of the story

Sensory Feast was a project developed in partnership with Fever as part of its international immersive experiences programme.

The concept was inspired by a reinterpretation of Alice in Wonderland: a theatrical dining experience where gastronomy, storytelling, projections, music and service had to work together as a single sensory journey.

And this was the real challenge: the food couldn’t feel like “the show’s catering”.

It had to become an active part of the story.

Gastronomy designed as storytelling

Each course on the menu was designed as a scene within the immersive journey:

  • “Drink Me”.
  • “Eat Me”.
  • The enchanted forest.
  • The tea party.
  • The queen of hearts

Everything served a narrative, visual and emotional purpose within the experience.

We developed dishes, textures and presentations inspired by elements from the Wonderland universe: mushrooms, forests, playing cards, tea, shifts in scale, smoke, colour and small moments of interaction..

The idea was simple: not just for guests to watch the show, but to become part of it through the food.

Creativity, yes. But with both feet firmly in the kitchen.

One of the most important aspects of the project was ensuring that all of this creativity could be executed realistically across different venues and cities.

Because designing something spectacular on paper is easy. Getting it right in real service is a very different story.

The proposal was developed with the following considerations in mind:

  • Simple production processes
  • Quick plating and assembly
  • Accessible ingredients
  • Variable kitchen teams
  • Cost-efficient execution
  • International adaptability
  • Coordination with live scenes and video mapping

Everything had to operate within a very precise timeline and remain perfectly synchronised with the show. Because in this case, a dish couldn’t simply arrive when it was ready. It had to arrive at exactly the right moment in the experience.

A system designed to travel

The project was designed to be implemented across different cities and operational environments without losing consistency or visual impact.

We developed adaptable solutions for:

  • Hotels
  • Restaurants
  • Different kitchen teams
  • Product variations
  • Special dietary requirements
  • Different operational capacities

The key was to create a flexible experience without losing what made it feel special.

And that often requires more strategy than fireworks.

Gastronomy applied to entertainment

In addition to the culinary development, we also provided creative direction on how food could be used as a storytelling tool within the immersive experience.

Here, gastronomy did not serve merely as something to be consumed. It became a tool for pacing, surprise, atmosphere and lasting memories.

Because in experiences like these, guests are unlikely to remember every ingredient. But they will remember how they felt when the Queen of Hearts’ dessert appeared, or when someone handed them a bottle and said, “Drink Me”.

And that’s where gastronomy begins to play in a different league.
